About the Artist: James Carr

South Carolina based artist and woodworker, James Carr, is the founder and creator of Cat on Wheels Creations. Given his innovative background and knack for building, it's no surprise that woodworking became his first hobby.

However, James was no stranger to the visual arts, seeing as his father was a professional artist, so it was only a matter of time before he would eventually follow in his footsteps. It wasn't until his early 50s that James began to dabble with painting, but he instantly fell in love. Though his subject matter can vary, most of his work is heavily influenced by southern culture and coastal surroundings.

But just like a Cat on Wheels, James never stops moving or becomes complacent. Inspired by the art scene in Asheville and Savannah, he decided to experiment with wire art, and has taken to it quite naturally. His inspiration from nature can truly be seen in this medium, as a majority of his creations resemble oak and palm trees.
